Commonly asked questions

Where can I find a PayPoint outlet?
PayPoint outlets are located in many supermarkets, newsagents, convenience stores and service stations and have a distinctive purple and yellow PayPoint logo visible.  If you would like to search for another outlet, please visit the PayPoint website at www.paypoint.co.uk/locator

What is the minimum amount I can pay?
The minimum payment is £2 per transaction.  A transaction is equal to one payment at a PayPoint outlet.

Is there a charge to use this payment card?
No.  There is no charge to use the Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water card.

Can I still use my instalment booklet?
Yes.  Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water offer this flexible payment option as a preferred way to pay your bill.  If you adopt this card, you could then discard your instalment book and you will not receive another one when your next bill is due.  Instead, we will send you a statement showing your payment schedule or bill.

Is this a credit card?
No, the Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water payment card is not a credit card.

Can I use this card to pay for my other utilities?
No, this card can only be used for your Bournemouth & West Hampshire, water bill.

What happens if I miss a payment?
You must ensure you make the necessary payments in time.  If you fail to do so, please contact us immediately so we can make an arrangement with you for payment.  If you fail to contact us, reminders will be sent which then may result in further recovery action.  Settlement of your water bill would be payable in full if two consecutive monthly payments are missed.

How does this card affect my payments?
If you are already paying by an instalment plan, this will continue as normal.  Your payment schedule will remain the same, regardless of whether you pay by weekly or monthly instalments.

How long does it take for my payment to appear on the account?
Your payment will appear within 2 working days.  In other words, if you make a payment on the Monday, the transaction will appear on your account on Wednesday.

Can I spread my payments?
Your payment shows you the minimum monthly amount you must pay, but you may spread this out over the month.  For example, if your payment tells you that you should pay £20 a month, you can choose to pay this in one go (one transaction), you can pay more e.g. £40, or if you prefer, you can pay this in several smaller transactions during this month.

So as long as you a) pay a minimum of £2 per transaction and b) ensure that you pay the full amount due, you are free to spread the payment as you like.

What happens if I lose the card?
If you lose your card, please contact us immediately to arrange for a new one to be sent to you.  A fee may be charged for this service.
