Water efficiency

There are simple water efficiency measures for all schools, hotels, offices and factories that can save money on water supply and wastewater charges.

·         Check that all urinals have controls that minimise flushing when the building is unoccupied.

·         If your toilets are the older larger variety fitted before January 2001 and are not dual flush, cistern displacement devices such as the Save-a-flush “Hog bag” can be installed. We can supply these at no cost to you.

·         If you have modern, post 2001, low volume single or dual flush valve toilets with internal overflows, check that nothing is leaking into the pan between flushes. Small continuous leaks can lead to big bills.

·         Ensure no taps are dripping in wash hand basins. To further save on water you can fit spray taps or spray tap converters. Alternatively you can reduce the pressure to basins or replace conventional taps with push taps.

·         Install low flow showerheads.
