A knock on the door or a ring on the bell?
Just remember - “If in doubt keep them OUT.”
Other handy advice includes:
- Use the chain on the door if you have one.
- Close the door while you check the caller’s identity. Don’t be fooled by callers who say they are from the water company, look smart or wear a bright yellow jacket.
- Our staff carry photo ID cards. If you’re unsure, just phone us on 01202 590059 and check. Do not use the number they may give you.
- We may call without an appointment in the event of an emergency but it is unlikely we will want to enter your home even in an emergency unless you have asked us to visit. Bogus callers often pretend “there is an emergency” to gain entry.
- If you are suspicious in any way, remember those six words,
“If in doubt keep them OUT” and phone 999.
